A Capitol Fourth

On July Fourth, America’s national Independence Day celebration honors our country’s birthday with an all-star salute. Broadcast live on PBS from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, this top-rated extravaganza features coverage from 20 cameras positioned around Washington, D.C., ensuring viewers are front and center for the greatest display of fireworks in the nation.

In the three decades since the humble beginning of A Capitol Fourth, a parade of superstars — has offered the best in American entertainment and helped set the tone for a spectacular American birthday party. This years lineup of entertainers includes John Stamos, Kelly Pickler, The Beach Boys, The Four Tops, The Blues Brothers, the National Symphony Orchestea, The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own”, Mark McGrath, Trace Adkins, Yolande Adams and many, many more.

The evening culminates with fireworks and the Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” complete with live cannon fire provided by the United States Army Presidential Salute Battery, an audience favorite and A Capitol Fourth tradition.
